Asking for ‘donation’: Two more locals get calls for extortion

The official said the person who called Malang asked him to “donate money for jihad as soon as possible”

Two more locals have received calls for extortion from numbers from Afghanistan. The extortionists demanded ‘donations’ from the persons in Khazana, situated on the outskirt of the city.



A police official told The Express Tribune on Friday Fazalur Rehman also known as Malang, a resident of Bakhshi Pul, received a call on March 21 from an Afghan number. The official said the person who called Malang asked him to “donate money for jihad as soon as possible”. The call caused panic among family members.


Similarly, a day after Malang received the call, Dost Muhammad, a resident of New Garhi, Bakhshi Pul, also received a phone call in which he was asked to donate money for the same purpose. The extortionists threatened Dost there would be a bomb blast if he failed to pay the amount.


Police started investigation in both the cases.
