LAHORE:
The authorities in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) have decided to replicate Punjab’s Smart School Monitoring System at government schools in the territory, according to a statement issued on Thursday.

The decision was taken during a meeting between FATA Development Programme (FDA) Education Component leader Fayyaz Ali Khan and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Umar Saif.

Fayyaz and his aide Muhammad Tahir visited the PITB on Thursday where Saif briefed them on the development and implementation of the system.

Saif said, “The Punjab leads in providing public access to the data of 53,000 public schools so that parents can monitor the working of schools and teachers from their homes.

The system has yielded remarkable results… the attendance of teachers and students has improved.”

The statement said that the FDA team had requested Saif to replicate the smartphone-based monitoring programme in the FATA.

Fayyaz said the PITB had incorporated technological interventions that had helped improve governance techniques across the Punjab. He said he hoped that the PITB assistance would not only upgrade surveillance methods but also help collect data on learning outcomes in the FATA.

Saif assured Fayyaz of all-out cooperation in this regard.
