The nation is celebrating the 76th Pakistan Day on Wednesday with a renewed pledge to make the country stronger by eliminating terrorism and achieving sustainable economic growth and greater political stability. To commemorate the occasion, a joint military parade was held at the Parade Ground near the landmark Shakarparian hills in Islamabad.

Pakistan Day commemorates the passing of the Lahore Resolution, when a separate nation for the Muslims of The British Indian Empire was demanded on March 23, 1940.

All of you complaining and crying about pakistan what do you guys do to help this country become any better? Do any of you help clean a street? plant a tree? not offer bribe at any given opportunity? Better yourselves before you guys want to complain about every thing wrong with Pakistan. Pakistan in 1947 had 2 factories 37 mbbs doctors barely had foot soldiers and arms. We have come a long way. Given our progress has not been where it should have been due to a lack of vision in leadership but we are to blame ourselves for that as well because we sell our votes for a few thousand or for some food. What do you expect.

You should think about women in your army who are raped and harassed by fellow army men. You should be concerned for them. Hijab is absolutely not a point of concern here!

You mean all these billions being spent and we are still insecure and citizen's being killed in custody? How is this supposed to make any sane minded person patriotic?

Everything we do to celebrate the military might is to honour those who have fallen on the heights of Kargil or in IoK in 65 or in East Pakistan. Our prayers and eternal gratitude are to these boys and their families! The rest of your comments can apply to even the US. Why spend $700B on defence (US Defence budget) when there are homeless people on the streets of every single major US city or the schools go underfunded? So lets not try to paint your contempt for Pakistan as a concern for this country. We are independent because of these men in uniform. We don't just celebrate them and not worry about improving our lot, both are happening in tandem by the grace of the Almighty!

quatro | 8 years ago | Reply Military parades are reserved for N Korea, Russia and China ---- except for Pakistan and India you won't find real Democracies celebrating by brandishing weapons. USA is probably a good example - their independence was actually obtained with force of arms - yet they tend to celebrate their anniversaries by honoring the dead rather than brandishing drones, artillery, tanks etc.

mansoor | 8 years ago | Reply Lowest literacy rate, highest maternal and infant mortality rate, unimaginable internal and external debts, Thar children dying in hundreds daily due to mal-nourishment, epicenter of terrorism world wide, importers of IT(International terrorism), country with biggest brain drain, not knowing how many we are, where they are, rapidly regressing towards year 600, cricket team Pakistan performing worse than Afghanistan, 25 dead after drinking alcohol in one day. Yes I am feeling very Patriotic.Yes I know that I have to eat grass but it was promised it 3 times a day, not once only. Yes i know that my jugular(Kashmir) is safe but blood is seeping through each of my pores. I am feeling very Pakistani, very patriotic. Thank you for boiling my blood.We celebrate defense day on 6th Sep having invaded and waged war on 16th Aug 1965. We credit Nishan e Haider to soldiers who we disowned when alive at Kargil. We killed 100s of thousands of Bengalis in 1971 just to be more patriotic.
