Heist: Robbers loot Rs10.27m from bank

SIHALA: Robbers on Monday looted Rs10.27 million from a local bank on GT Road in the Rawat area. According to an eyewitness, six helmet-wearing armed persons broke into the bank, held the security and bank staff hostage at gunpoint before going on a looting-spree. According to him, the robbers, who were armed with pistols and speaking local language, took keys from the bank manager, withdrew cash from lockers and fled on three motorcycles. The robbers also took CCTV cameras with them. Later, Sihala Police SHO Kifayat Khan turned up with a police team and collected evidence and recorded statement of the bank manager. According to a police source, Sihala and Rawat police also wrangled over the jurisdiction issue before the Sihala police visited the bank.
