Health sector: ‘More funds for replacement of machinery soon’
The government is allocating funds to replace old machinery at hospitals, Zakat and Ushar Minister Malik Nadeem Kamran said on Sunday.
He was addressing a meeting at Nishtar Hospital. “A new system has been introduced in all government hospitals to fix machinery that is in dilapidated condition,” Kamran said. He said that adequate funds would be provided to hospitals to improve their working.
“Up-gradation of government hospitals and provision of health facilities are the top priorities of the government,” he said.
He said that latest machinery was being installed and efforts were being made to end staff shortage.
He urged doctors to provide the best treatment to patients.
Briefing the meeting, Medical Superintendent Dr Ashiq Malik said the hospital needed more beds. “Right now, there are only 1,103 beds in the hospital,” he said.
