“I have no regrets and I have taken my prison sentence in a positive way,” the actor said at the India Today Conclave 2016 on Friday. “Sanjay has grown up, become a little bit clever. I just want to be Sanjay. I don’t want to be ‘Munna Bhai’ or ‘Khalnayak.’ I think people love Sanjay Dutt,” he added.
The 56-year-old also shared that he now aims to do some “great” cinema. “I want to do good movies. I don’t want to do films because I am compelled to do them. I want to make a difference... Just try to change the genre in the industry,” he added.
Sanjay Dutt to release his book penned in jail
About his future projects, Dutt stated, “I may be doing a film with Siddharth Anand and another one with Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Then comes the third part of Munna Bhai in 2017.” When asked about the biopic based on his life, Dutt quipped that two hours are not enough to document it.
The troubled star was absolved of involvement in a 1993 Mumbai blasts case but convicted for illegal possession of arms. Dutt, however, feels he has “learnt” a lot from the incident. “I don’t have any regrets; I learnt from it. I learnt the law of the land. I learnt not to be brash. I learnt not to think from the heart but from the mind,” he said.
