ZTBL case: Court grants two more weeks to respondents

ZTBL president appeared before the court and sought more time to respond to the petition.

ISLAMABAD:
Justice Muhammad Anwar Kasi of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday granted two more weeks to the President Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL), State Bank Governor and the 13 challenged appointees to respond to the petition.

The court had issued them notices on January 13 to respond to the petition by Thursday. Only Chaudhary Imtiaz, the legal adviser of ZTBL president, appeared before the court and sought more time to respond to the petition. The other respondents, however, did not submit their replies.

The petition was filed by ZTBL Vice-President Ghazanfar Ali Shah in which he maintained that the ZTBL president hired six persons in the Kisan Support Scheme (KSSL) on huge salaries and later appointed them as senior vice-presidents, vice-presidents and assistant vice-presidents.

“ZTBL President appointed these persons with the connivance of State Bank Pakistan Governor by violating the rules of KSSL, and it was based on nepotism,”’ Qazi maintained.
