HEC asks universities to promote innovation

The committee held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss ways and means to strengthen links between academia and industry



The Higher Education Commission’s Innovation Steering Committee has stressed the need to thresh out a mechanism to promote innovation in universities for better academia-industry linkages.



The committee held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss ways and means to strengthen links between academia and industry through the Offices of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORICs) in universities.

Representatives from industry and ORICs from four universities in Peshawar and 15 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi discussed the need to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship activities in Pakistani universities for improved job absorption as well as country’s economic empowerment, said a press release.
