Encounter: Police recover two kidnapped men

After tip-off that gang of armed bandits was relocating their hideout, heavy contingent of police conducted a raid.

SUKKUR:
The Ghotki police rescued two kidnapped men on Thursday in an encounter with armed bandits, near the Chitti Dhandh area of Gemro police station.

According to sources, upon receiving a tip-off that a gang of armed bandits was relocating their hideout, a heavy contingent of police conducted a raid. The police said that the kidnappers escaped after an hour of exchanging fire, leaving the hostages behind.

The hostages, Hafiz Shamsuddin Chachar, and his son, Zaheeruddin, were kidnapped a month ago on their way to Ghotki. Their car was later found in the kachcha area of Daharki. According to some reports, the hostages were released upon the payment of ransom. The police insist, however, that the raid is what led to the release.
