Ground situation: Senate’s defence panel tours Swat

SWAT: The Senate Standing Committee on Defence on Wednesday visited terrorism affected areas in Tehsil Khawaza Khela in Swat and reviewed peace, law and order situation. The committee members including senator Farhatullah Babar, Maulana Attaur Rehman and its chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Salahuddin Tirmizi met political leadership, local elders and representatives of local government. They expressed satisfaction over the peace and security situation in the area and lauded cooperation extended by the local people to security forces in the war against terrorism. Speaking on the occasion, Tirmzi and Babar said the government is fully aware of the problems being faced by the local people and would take measures to resolve their issues. Earlier, Assistant Commissioner Khawaza Khela Zubair Khan Niazi briefed the members of the committee on overall security situation in the area.
