ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Saleem Mandviwalla has called the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) a “useless body” and a “burden on the exchequer”, saying that it should be shut down at the earliest to avoid further losses.

Mandviwalla, who himself is a board member at TDAP, criticised the performance of the national body and said that it has failed to recommend a policy that would increase export of goods and services. “I am disappointed by the affairs of TDAP and am considering resigning from the office as they have failed to develop a consistent, sustainable and result oriented, holistic export development plan,” the former finance minister added.

He said that TDAP has been unsuccessful in achieving synergy in development of exports at a national level by forging effective liaison with private and public stakeholders.
