On the table: Patient’s stomach left open

The protester added doctors at the hospital examined him and recommended surgery

SWABI:
The doctors at Swabi district hospital allegedly left a patient’s stomach open after an appendectomy. Local representatives protested on Wednesday against the negligence of the hospital staff. One of the protesters said 12-year-old Samiullah complained of pain in his abdomen. The protester added doctors at the hospital examined him and recommended surgery. He added the boy was operated upon but the doctors did not stitch him closed, leaving the boy bleeding. He had to be rushed to a private hospital where the surgeon said the boy had gone through an appendectomy. Samillah’s father Shabbir Ahmed then contacted Swabi tehsil nazim Wahid Shah, district councillor Jehanzeb and other local representatives.
