LONDON:
Adele’s tour made a triumphant opening on Tuesday, kicking off with a series of concerts in the British capital. The London-based singer won her audience over with stage chat about make-up, burps, pimples and selfies as she belted out her chart-topping hits. The concert even saw one couple get engaged during Adele’s performance.

The 27-year-old sang a mix of hits from her albums 19, 21 and 25. She opened the show with Hello – the single which marked Adele’s successful return to the music scene late last year. Adele sang other popular singles, including Skyfall, Someone like You and Rolling in the Deep. Hometown Glory was sung against a black and white video of London’s main sites, winning applause from the crowd. “To finally be here is amazing,” Adele said, while inviting fans onto the stage.

A couple who got engaged during a performance of Make You Feel My Love was invited to stand beside the award-winning songstress as well. “It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed at one of my shows,” said Adele of the proposal.

The sell-out tour – called Adele Live – began in Belfast on February 29 and will go on to Europe before heading to the United States. “You know, it is a massive show but so intimate as well,” said one fan. “Adele really connects with the audience.”
