Nabbed: Transporters fined for overcharging
After the reduction in fares, the LTC has constituted a special squad to check transporters

The Lahore Transport Company (LTC) said on Tuesday it had fined 433 public transport vehicles and impounded 10 for overcharging passengers.
An LTC spokesman said that the action had been taken to ensure that the new fare tariffs were implemented.
“After the reduction in fares, the LTC has constituted a special squad to check transporters. The enforcement wing has been directed to proceed without any discrimination against those found overcharging passengers,” he said.
He said that the company had checked 7,826 public transport vehicles in Bhati Chowk, RA Bazaar, Multan Chungi, Liberty Roundabout, Thokar Niaz Baig, Chungi Amar Sidhu, Main Ferozepur Road and other areas of the city. “We also received 29 complaints about overcharging on our helpline,” he said.
The spokesman said transporters in the city had been directed to display new rate lists in the buses and vans.
