Secretary Public Health Engineering (PHE) Balochistan Shiekh Nawaz has said that to ensure provision of pure drinking water to the masses, as many as 409 plants are being installed across Balochistan.
Addressing a press conference here at Quetta Press Club on Monday, he said that 80 per cent of rainwater in Balochistan is wasted due to the non-availability of dams.
He said that in 40 per cent of Balochistan there was no underground water, adding that the citizens in Makran division bring water from as far afield as 100 kilometres. He added that the Balochistan government had started to make policies in the wake of 18th amendment and the underground water level had improved in Dera Bugti, Kharan and Sibi following the recent rains in the province.
