Annual gathering: Veterans urged to participate in social sector

“Veterans of Pakistan Army are a source of pride for our soldiers,” said Lahore Corps Lieutenant Commander General Sadiq Ali on Sunday.


He was addressing the 27th annual general meeting of the Retired Defence Forces Veterans Association (DFVA) at Defence Services Officer Mess.


He urged veterans to participate in the social sector. “Your experience and expertise is still valuable for the nation,” he said.


Earlier, in his opening address, Lieutenant General (r) Farooq Ahmad spoke on the achievements of the association over 20 years. He said the association was formed in 1992.


He said it was formed as a welfare society to look after the interests of retired personnel of the Pakistan Army and their families. It was a nonpartisan association, he said. The meeting was attended by a large number of veteran officers, junior commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers.
