Police action: Two AQIS militants killed
The suspects were identified as Arshad and Umair
KARACHI:
Two suspected alQaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) militants were killed during an exchange of fire with law enforcement agencies in the outskirts of the city on Sunday. The encounter took place when Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials conducted a raid in Quaidabad. CTD officials said during the raid, they encountered massive retaliation from militants and two militants were killed in the crossfire. Their bodies were shifted to the Edhi morgue after medico-legal formalities were completed at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The suspects were identified as Arshad and Umair. CTD officials said the Sindh government was offering a reward of Rs5 million for Arshad's arrest and Rs500,000 for Umair's arrest. The officials also claim to have recovered explosives and weapons from their possession. The cases have been registered and further investigation is under way.
