Competitive spirit: U-23 Games kick off in DI Khan

Sports DG assures players facilities will be provided to them

DI KHAN: At least 340 women are participating in a three-day sports event in DI Khan.

The initiative was inaugurated by DI Khan district nazim Nawabzada Azizullah Khan Alizai on Sunday and is part of K-P Under-23 Games. The event has been organised by sports and youth affairs director general. A majority of the participants hail from Tank and DI Khan.

During the inauguration ceremony, students performed tableaus and skits and put up a gymnastics display.



In the volley ball competition, the team from DI Khan won against a team from Tank. Zara Fatima, a resident of DI Khan, beat Afsheen in a table tennis match. In doubles, Zara Ayesha beat Aqsa and Laiba of Tank, while in reverse singles, Sumaiya of DI Khan beat Uroosa of Tank. In a series of badminton matches, DI Khan’s Lubna and Aqsa beat Sanila and Muskan, while in the singles, Manoor Malik took the lead against Tooba.

In her welcome address, Sports and Youth Affairs DG Rashida Ghaznavi assured players that all possible facilities would be provided to help them play sports either at district, divisional or provincial level. The district nazim said the event would help discover talented players.

“Such competitions will enable players compete at national and international levels,” he added.
