Collision: Couple, child among four killed on road

The injured were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Polyclinic

An eight-year-old boy, his parents, and a van driver were killed and six others critically injured in a collision between a passengers’ van and a water tanker near Maulpur on Friday morning.



According to the Secretariat police, a speeding passenger van (LZ-6499) coming from Murree rear-ended a water tanker. The deceased were identified as Zaheer Abbasi, 40, his wife, Rukhsana, 35, their son, Abdul Basit, 8, and van driver Asif Ali, 35.


Shagufta Bibi, Iman, Nadeem, Shamraiz, Jahangir and Sajid were seriously injured in the incident.


The injured were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Polyclinic, where they were all in critical condition.


The police took tanker driver Sher Afzal Khan into custody and impounded his vehicle. Investigation Officer ASI Imtiaz Ahmed said initial investigation suggest that the van skidded off the road and collided with the tanker after the brakes failed.
