Disciplinary action: ANP issues notices to 31 members, suspends 5
Peshawar district president directed to obtain fresh vote of confidence
PESHAWAR:
The cabinet of ANP Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chapter has decided to take disciplinary action against those members who either violated party discipline in organisational matters or during the local government elections in 2015.
This was stated in a press release issued on Friday. According to the statement, the decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held a day earlier. The meeting was chaired by party president’s Ameer Haider Khan Hoti.
“So far, 31 ANP workers – 17 from Peshawar and 14 from Swabi – have been served notices,” ANP K-P General Secretary Sardar Hussain Babak was quoted as saying. “The membership of five people has been suspended.”
According to Babak, the 31 workers have been given three days to explain their reasons for violating party discipline. If a suitable explanation is not provided, their membership will be suspended.
“The 31 party workers include former parliamentarians and seasoned stalwarts,” the statement quoted Babak as saying. “They have been charged for working against the party’s interest during the local government elections in May and July 2015.”
As per the press release, the memberships of Ahmad Farooq, Haji Ilyas and Zameer Badshah from Karak, Hassan Khan from Hangu and Azmat Khan from Tank have also been suspended for a year.
Retrospective effect
ANP cabinet directed enquiry committees to take further action against those party members who have violated party discipline earlier.
Reorganisation
The party’s provincial cabinet has also announced its decision to dissolve district organisations in Kohat and Hangu.
At the meeting, new organisers were nominated at district and tehsil levels for both districts.
Vote of confidence
The cabinet directed Peshawar district President Malik Nasim to obtain a fresh vote of confidence at a council meeting scheduled to be held at Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar on March 17.
Over the past year, rifts have surfaced in ANP’s Peshawar chapter. This would be the second time that Nasim will opt for vote of confidence from the council meeting.
