KOLKATA: India defeated West Indies by 45 runs in their World T20 warm-up match in Kolkata on Thursday.

India rode on opener Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 98 to post 185 for six in their 20 overs and then bundled out the Caribbean side for 140 in 19.2 overs.

The teams were allowed to play all 15 members of their squads with only 11 fielding and batting.

In Mumbai, New Zealand outplayed Sri Lanka by 74 runs.

Electing to bat, the Kiwis rode on entertaining fifties from Colin Munro, Corey Anderson and Grant Elliott to post an impressive 226 for four in their 20 overs.

World T20: Sibanda powers Zimbabwe to opening win

Defending champions Sri Lanka were never in the chase as they finished on 152 for seven.

Lahiru Thirimanne top-socred with 41.
