Fair treatment: End discrimination in minorities grants
The counsel said Christian MPAs of the ruling party were getting the grant
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the government to ensure there was no discrimination against opposition MPAs in disbursement of funds reserved for minority. Justice Faisal Zaman Khan issued the order on a petition moved by MPA Shunila Ruth of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf. Sheraz Zaka, her counsel, told the court that the government was not treating members of the opposition fairly and not disbursing grants for Christians to MPAs elected on reserved seats for minorities. The counsel said Christian MPAs of the ruling party were getting the grant but the petitioner, the only Christian MPA on a reserved seat from the PTI, was being treated in a discriminatory manner. He asked the court to order the government to not discriminate in disbursement of funds.
