Filing tax returns: No further extension in deadline, says FBR
FBR spokesperson once again called upon the non-filers to benefit from the Voluntarily Tax Compliance Scheme

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will not extend the deadline to file tax returns any further and will start charging withholding tax at 0.6% from non-filers on bank transactions from March 15, a senior official said. “The government will not extend the last date of filing tax returns, which has been fixed at March 15, after which the FBR will start charging 0.6% withholding tax from non-filers besides sending them notices,” Facilitation and Taxpayer Education (FATE) member and FBR spokesman Dr Mohammad Iqbal said. He added that now the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number is being used as the tax number and no non-filer could deceive the tax collecting authority as their transactions would be detected. He once again called upon the non-filers to benefit from the Voluntarily Tax Compliance Scheme.
