Energy-efficient technologies: Punjab to collaborate with Dutch institute

Roadmap developed to resolve power issues.

LAHORE:
The Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) has decided to collaborate with the Netherland’s Cleaner Production Institute (CPI) for integrated audit and introduction of cleaner and energy efficiency technologies.

This decision was taken in a workshop held here at the Sundar Industrial Estate on Wednesday. During the workshop, a roadmap was also developed to cope with energy problems faced by industrialists, particularly the PIEDMC management.

The workshop discussed the second phase of cleaner technology programme during 2010-13 under the title of Programme for Sustainable Industrial Estates (PSIE).

Important activities and output of PSIE, including integrated audit and implementation of cleaner and energy efficiency technologies, implementation of environmental management system and ISO 14001 certification, design and implementation of wastewater treatment plant were also discussed in the meeting.
