LONDON:
It seems like no matter where they go, Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney and his wife, international lawyer Amal Alamuddin, cannot outrun their star status. This time, as per media reports, the couple has had to step up the security around their very home – a mansion on the outskirts of London – after Amal began receiving death threats. The couple is currently taking drastic measures to protect the $10.7 million house, located in Berkshire, South England from trespassers. Both George and Amal have also been advised not to travel anywhere without bodyguards, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

In this connection, the star duo is now being chauffeured to local restaurants that are just 300 yards away, following some worrying messages which the 38-year-old Amal has received. These are supposedly in relation to a case she is currently working on, which is seeing her represent Mohamed Nasheed – former president of the Maldives who has been incarcerated for 13 years on account of terrorism charges.

Is George Clooney calling quits on his acting career?

“The security is not so much for him [George] as it is for her [Amal],” Grazia magazine quoted the South Oxfordshire district councillor Paul Harrison as saying. “From George’s point of view, the high level legal work she does and the death threats she gets – it is quite serious,” he added. Harrison has been involved in the negotiations to beef up surveillance at the Clooney house.

Apparently, the 54-year-old actor and his wife initially applied for permission to erect up to eight cameras on six meter poles in the ground. These would be in addition to another 10 cameras fixed to the ground. Unfortunately, their plans were soiled as it was expected the cameras would represent a potential infringement of the privacy of neighbouring properties. However, a compromise has now been reached and the necessary protocol is now being provided for the safety of the couple.
