Sunday Bazaars: Prices of most vegetables stable
Turnip prices drop by 50 per cent

The prices of most vegetables at Sunday Bazaars remained stable or were lower compared to the last week.
The price list issued by the Lahore Market Committee showed that the prices of cabbages were higher by 87.50 per cent; these sold for Rs10 to Rs15 per kg.
A 57 per cent hike was recorded in the prices of fenugreek (methi); it sold for Rs15 to Rs22 a kg. The prices of lemons (native) were higher by 14 per cent and these sold for Rs75 to Rs80 per kg. Chinese lemons sold for Rs45 to Rs55 per kg. A six to eight per cent raise was witnessed in the prices of green chilies (native), onions and potatoes. Green chilies (native) sold for Rs60 to Rs70 a kg, onions for Rs30 to Rs35 a kg and potatoes for Rs10 to Rs13 a kg. Garlic (native) sold for Rs90 to Rs100 a kg.
Turnips’ prices dropped by 50 per cent and these sold for Rs4 to Rs6 a kg. Peas were cheaper by 24 per cent as these sold for Rs30 to Rs35 a kg.
Tomatoes sold for Rs24 to Rs28 a kg following a hike of 18 per cent in their price.
Cauliflower prices were lower by 12.50 per cent; it sold for Rs5 to Rs7 a kg. Prices of cucumbers and Chinese ginger declined by 8.57 and 8.42 per cent, respectively. Cucumbers sold for Rs25 to Rs32 a kg and Chinese ginger for Rs80 to Rs87 a kg.
A four per cent reduction was witnessed in the prices of ginger (Thai). It sold for Rs48 to Rs52 a kg. The prices of Chinese garlic were lower by two percent; it sold for Rs220 to Rs235 a kg.
Prices of brinjals, mongray, bitter gourd, spinach, Chinese lemons, green chilies, capsicums, taro roots, okra, radishes, carrots and mint were stable. Brinjals sold for Rs30 to Rs35 a kg, mongray Rs25 to Rs30 a kg, bitter gourd Rs85 to Rs90 a kg, spinach Rs10 to Rs15 a kg, Chinese lemons Rs45 to Rs55 a kg, green chilies (farmed) Rs45 to Rs50 a kg, capsicums Rs50 to Rs60 a kg, taro roots Rs40 to Rs43 a kg, okra Rs90 to Rs100 a kg, radishes Rs10 to Rs12 a kg, carrots Rs16 to Rs18 a kg.
