Not forced to wear Bangladesh flag, says Pakistani fan

Mohammad Bashir refutes initial claims circulated on social media

An avid supporter of Pakistan's cricket team, Mohammad Bashir, revealed in a new video that he was not forced to wear the Bangladesh flag after the hosts beat Shahid Afridi’s men by five wickets to qualify for the final of the Asia cup.

Earlier, photographs of the fan who travelled to Mirpur to watch the Asia Cup match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, surfaced on social media went viral on the internet. The supporter was seemingly harassed by spectators and forced to wear the Bangladeshi flag after his team’s loss on Wednesday.

Photographs emerged on Facebook confirming Bashir’s situation, wearing the Bangladeshi flag, in front of Elias Uddin Mollah – a political figure in Bangladesh’s ruling Awami League.


However, in the recent video, the supporter of the Men in Green, himself said that he loves Bangladesh and he did wear the flag to share joy of supporters from the home country.

Bangladesh will now play India in the final of the Asia cup at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on Sunday.
