‘Spreading immorality’: LHC moved against billboards
Shahrukh Siddique had filed the petition submitting that such billboards were rampant in the city
LAHORE:
Justice Viqas Rauf Mirza of Lahore High Court (LHC) issued notices on Friday to the DCO and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) on a petition against the installation of billboards carrying pictures of women. Shahrukh Siddique had filed the petition submitting that such billboards were rampant in the city. These were installed without the permission of the departments concerned, he said. He said these pictures resulted in a moral turpitude. “Exhibiting women on roadside hoardings is a violation of the teachings of Islam,” Siddique said. He requested the court to order the authorities concerned to remove such hoardings.
