Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to ensure foolproof security to the Pakistan cricket team, which is due to visit India to participate in the 2016 ICC World Twenty20.
The event will take place from March 8 to April 3, with the arch-rivals set to face each other on March 19 in Dharamsala, India.
In a meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Friday, the premier directed sending members of a security team to India for reviewing security arrangements.

Based on this report, a decision will be taken whether to send the team to participate in the event, added the premier.
The PM also directed Nisar to contact Pakistan's High Commission in India to find out about the security arrangements in place for the event.
Earlier on March 2, the interior minister expressed concern over Indian response on the security and linked the team's tour with assurance for the same.

On February 29, PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said they had conveyed concerns regarding team's security to the ICC.
India's Himachal Pardesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh refused to provide security to the team. He suggested the match to be played on March 19 shall be moved from Dharamsala to another venue or cancelled.
Meanwhile, the premier also sought a report on Pakistan's dismal performance in Asia Cup.
