Drive responsibly: Two dead, 21 injured in road accidents

Two people died and 21 were injured in road accidents in Khanewal, Faisalabad and Multan districts on Wednesday night and Thursday.


In Faisalabad, two people died after the car they were in rammed into a signboard near Daramanwala Mor, on Sheikhupura Road, late on Wednesday. Rescue-1122 officials said Ahsan, Adnan and Amjad, residents of Rehmania Town, were driving on Sheikhupura Road when the driver lost control of the car and rammed it into a signboard next to Madni CNG Station, at Daramanwala Mor, in Khurarianwala. Ahsan and Amjad died on spot but Adnan suffered minor injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.


In Multan, 16 people were injured after a commuter van overturned trying to avoid a man on a motorcycle on Muzaffargarh Road on Thursday.

Rescue-1122 officials said that the van was on its way to Multan from Kot Addu when it overturned on China Road, Muzaffargarh. The driver was trying to swerve past a man driving a motorcycle. Sixteen passengers including Muhammad Arshad, Rawal, Kabir, Taufiq, Sadiq, Riaz, Ikram, Fareed and Ismail sustained serious injuries. Rescue-1122 officials took them to Nishtar Hospital.

In Khanewal, five officials of the Elite Force were injured in a road accident on Thursday. Police said a team of Elite Force officials, led by the Jahanian SHO, was on its way to conduct a raid in Toba Tek Singh district when their vehicle met an accident while taking a turn at Gojra By-pass Mor. Five officials were injured. Saleem was referred to the Khanewal DHQ Hospital and Tahir Gul, a resident of Jahanian, Asif Hayat, a resident of Abdul Hakeem, Qamar Sultan, a resident of Mian Channu, and Shaukat, a resident of Mehr Shah, were taken to Nishtar Hospital in Multan. Doctors said their condition was serious.
