Patron’s Trophy: Omar Associates score 406 on day one

Waqas scores 133 to guide side to daunting first-innings total

KARACHI:
A century by Muhammad Waqas helped Omar Associates set a convincing first-inning total of 406 runs against Asim Textile on the opening day of the Patron’s Trophy Grade II at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad on Thursday.

Asked to bat first, Omar Associates posted 406 in 82.5 overs with Waqas scoring 133 off 171 balls, while Zohaib Ahmed scored 49. By end of play, Asim Textile were 25-0.

In another match, unbeaten centuries by Fahad Iqbal (122) and Shoaib Khan (100) took PIA to  371-3 in their first innings against Saudi Cricket at the Pindi Stadium. At stumps, Saudi Cricket were batting on 92-4 after 16 overs.

Patron’s Trophy: 24 teams to vie it out for top prize

Sajid Khan scored 101 runs to help Candyland post 303 in their first innings against Customs. At the end of the day’s play, Customs were batting on 48-2 after 12 overs.

At the State Bank Ground in Karachi, hosts SBP were able to post 366 in their first innings as Sami Aslam scored 113 runs off 137 balls. At the end of the day’s play, PTV were batting on 43 without loss.


Brighto Paints were 296-8 runs at the end of day one against ZTBL, with the help of a century by Muhammad Idrees (102) and an unbeaten 79-run knock by Kamran Hussain.

Meanwhile, Zainul Hasnain scored 123 against Income Tax to help Railways score 264 in their first innings. At stumps, Income Tax were 39-1.

Half-centuries by Zayyed Tahir (56), Juniad Ali (56) and Asfand Mehran (66) helped HEC score 267 in their first innings against KPT, while KPT were batting on 35-1 in reply.

In another match, half-centuries by Waqar Ahmed (68) and Ali Shahram (53) helped Humak Engineering post 255 against Service Industries. At stumps, Service Industries were in trouble on 69-6.
