Long awaited: DG Khan Medical College to get PMDC affiliation
A team of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council officials visited the Dera Ghazi Khan Medical College on Wednesday to inspect the varsity’s facilities. They gave the college a score of 908 out of 1,000.
The minimum score required for a medical college to be granted affiliation is 750. The health secretary will submit a report in this regard to Lahore High Court on Thursday (today). The PMDC is now expected to give approval for the registration of the college in its executive committee meeting on March 11. Students of the Dera Ghazi Khan Medical College had been protesting against the government and the PMDC for over a month. They had feared that they would not be eligible for house jobs after graduation and their five years of medical education would be for nought if the college wasn’t affiliated with the PMDC. They called off the protest three weeks ago after the PMDC hinted that they would affiliate it soon.
