Two nabbed: 600kg of explosives seized

All explosives and safety fuses were confiscated

SWABI: The police arrested a suspect and seized 600 kilogrammes of explosives and 11,000 safety fuses within the jurisdiction of Swabi police station Wednesday morning. Acting on a tip-off, Swabi DPO Javed Iqbal directed DSP Swabi Izhar Shah Khan and SHO Swabi Gulzar Khan to carry out a search operation in various areas of Swabi. A truck was intercepted and stopped on Maneri Payan Road and 600 kilogrammes of explosives and 11,000 safety fuses, supposedly for use in illegal mining activities, were found in sacks in the vehicle. The driver, Nawaz Khan, was arrested on the spot and shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. All explosives and safety fuses were confiscated. Meanwhile, 715 grammes of hashish were seized by ASI Irshad Khan within the limits of Gadoon Industrial Estate from concealed compartments of a vehicle. The driver, Hussain Ahmed, was jailed.
