Said that presently the rate of petrol comprises more than 50% of taxes
KARACHI:
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh chapter amir Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui said on Wednesday that the government should take steps to transfer the benefit of reduced oil prices by reducing the rates of daily-use commodities and public transport fares. In a statement, Siddiqui said that even if the government reduced the rate of petrol to Rs40 per litre to bring it at par with the international rates, government revenue will not be affected. He said that presently the rate of petrol comprises more than 50% of taxes. He said fares of public transport and rates of medicine and food items are increasing unilaterally.
