KARACHI: Intelligence agencies were called to court on February 3 by a division bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday in a missing person case.

The bench was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Gulfam Bibi, mother of a young man, Ashfaq Ahmed, who has been missing since August 13, 2009. The petitioner’s counsel maintained that her son went to Urdu Bazaar, Karachi to buy school textbooks for his sister and has been missing since then.

The police refused to register a case. She continued looking for her son.

She said that she feared her son had been detained by the intelligence agencies.

The SHC bench issued notice to all the top intelligence agencies, including the directors-general of the Inter-Services Intelligence and Military Intelligence, who have been cited as respondents.
