PEMRA on a petition seeking a ban on broadcasting of television serials based on crime stories

LAHORE:
Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijazul Ahsan on Tuesday sought report from the federal government and the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on a petition seeking a ban on broadcasting of television serials based on crime stories. Petitioner submitted that broadcasting of such dramas on private television channels based on crime stories was having a negative effect on the society. He said the storylines of these drama serials were encouraging the youth to adopt criminal behaviour. He requested the court to direct the PEMRA to impose a ban on broadcast of such serials.
