Clarifications: Hayat rejects reports about facing inquiry

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Sindh, director Shahid Hayat said on Tuesday that he was not facing any inquiries.



Addressing a press conference at his office, he said, "We are nobody's servants but the servants of the law. Neither the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) nor the federal interior ministry is holding any inquiry against me or my subordinates," said Hayat, rejecting reports that he was facing an inquiry. "If you do not trust me, you can verify my statement with the NAB and interior ministry."

He said he and his officers had been vilified during the last few weeks. "It seems that the reason behind the media tirade is that we are prosecuting some big and important cases in the court after being investigated," he said. Hayat has been in the limelight since the FIA raided the offices of Aqeel Karim Dhedhi Securities and arrested the firm's chief executive officer, Fareed Alam, and two directors over fraud charges.
