LAHORE:
Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday issued a notice to the provincial government on a petition seeking appointment of the advocate general (AG). The judge asked the government to file a reply until March 21. Advocate Noshab A Khan had moved the petition submitting that the office had been lying vacant since January 22. He said Capt (r) Naveed Rasool Mirza was the last person who occupied the office. He said Mirza had resigned due to poor health. He submitted that the slot was a constitutional post and it could not be held vacant for more than a month. He sought court’s direction for an early appointment to the office.
