TUJ oath taking: ‘Govt, media ties will help resolve issues’

LANDI KOTAL:

Khyber Agency Political Agent Khalid Mehmood has said trustworthy relations between government departments and the media will help resolve problems faced by the public.

He was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of Tribal Union of Journalists at Khyber House, Peshawar on Monday. The event was attended by a large number of tribal elders, leaders, journalists and representatives of various political parties and NGOs.

Mehmood said, “We will establish the office of communication officer to provide factual information about actions in Khyber Agency [to the media].”

“Journalism plays a key role in resolving issues, putting affairs of the government institutions on its right track and addressing issues of backwardness and economic disorder,” he said.

According to Mehmood, tribal journalists need to highlight positive aspects and values of the tribal areas.
