Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai has said that the annual horse and cattle show of Sibi Mela promotes livestock and agriculture sector and brings all the people living in Balochistan closer to one another.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the historic Sibi Mela at Sardar Chakar Khan Domki stadium on Thursday, he said that the mela is next to only the National Horse and Cattle Show, Lahore, in terms of display of livestock and public participation.

He chose the occasion to highlight the importance of social development. He called for ending the abhorrent practice of honour killing and other such customs that dehumanise women. The governor urged the people to send their children to schools and end ignorance and illiteracy from the province.
