Winter sports: Stadium for Kalash Valley on the cards

The final match was played between the Shekhana Bumboret and Baron Bumboret teams

The provincial government has decided to establish a stadium in each union council of Chitral to encourage young people to play sports.


This was said by K-P Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Sports and Culture Bibi Fozia at the Indigenous Winter Sports Festival on Thursday. The first phase of the festival concluded in Kalash Valley with a game of Garth Snow (snow hockey)


The parliamentary secretary vowed to request the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairperson Imran Khan to establish a stadium in Kalash Valley.  The final match was played between the Shekhana Bumboret and Baron Bumboret teams. The latter won the match by scoring eight goals while Shekhana Bumboret scored only five goals.


The festival will continue for another three days and various cultural shows will be held. A large number of people showed up to enjoy the winter festival. The winning team was given a cash prize of Rs50,000.
