Competition Commission inducts new member
Federal government appoints Moin Batlay. Move takes strength of CCP to five.
KARACHI:
The federal government has appointed Moin Batlay as new member of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) while reappointing three other members, according to an official release issued by CCP on Monday.
The officials who were reaffirmed include CCP chief Rahat Kaunain along with members Abdul Ghaffar and Dr Joseph Wilson. The Competition Act of 2010 was ratified by the National Assembly on September 23 after it lapsed earlier that year. President Asif Ali Zardari signed the bill into law on October 6. The act allows a three-year term to the chairperson and members of the commission.
The reappointments will be effective from the dates of expiration of prior terms of the members. This move has taken the strength of members at the CCP to five.
