Battling cancer: DHA, Shaukat Khanum sign MoU to build hospital

DHA is providing 18 acres of land in DHA City, located on the Super Highway, for the establishment of the hospital

The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday afternoon to establish a cancer hospital in Karachi.


DHA administrator Brigadier Zubair Ahmed confirmed to The Express Tribune that the MoU was signed on Wednesday afternoon. "This is a huge milestone for DHA and will benefit the whole community," he said.


DHA is providing 18 acres of land in DHA City, located on the Super Highway, for the establishment of the hospital. It will cater not only to the residents of Karachi but also those hailing from Balochistan, rural Sindh and Southern Punjab.


Earlier, confusion persisted regarding the ceremony, with news of its postponement and the media not being invited, but the ceremony was held and the According to Brig Ahmed, the construction of the hospital will start by the end of the year, or by beginning of next year.
