Grants: Artistes complain of favouritism
Numerous artistes appreciated the government’s initiative but alleged the selection was based on favouritism

Soon after the K-P government announced a monthly honorarium of Rs30,000 each to 500 artistes and a list was prepared, dozens others alleged the choices were based on favouritism. An endowment fund was also announced by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak. Numerous artistes appreciated the government’s initiative but alleged the selection was based on favouritism. Speaking to journalists at a press conference held at the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, K-P Fankaran Association President Arshad Akbar said a majority of those associated with arts were neglected.
