Liaison: Bridging the gap between public and police
More than 25 police officials visit various educational institutions to spread awareness in the community.
ISLAMABAD:
A plan launched last year by the Capital police to link community members with the police force helped curb criminal activities in the capital city, police said.
Following the campaign, more than 25 officials of Islamabad Capital Police (ICP) visited various educational institutions and organisations to promote a friendly image of police in the capital. The campaign spread awareness about the functioning of ICP as well.
Students accompanied traffic police in educational campaigns as Traffic Volunteers, trying to inculcate traffic sense by urging commuters to follow rules and regulations.
The Liaison department of the Islamabad Police which keeps contact with society members nabbed several criminals, according to the police. This initiative of ICP for close liaison with community members helped in bridging the gap through enhanced coordination. The purpose of all these activities, Inspector General of Police Syed Kaleem Imam said, was to acquaint the future generation with the police and inculcate a soft image of the force, encourage them to join it as well.
