“NCA reposed full confidence in the reliable command and control system of the national strategic capability and appreciated the high standard of operational preparedness of the strategic forces,” the statement, which was released after the 22nd meeting of NCA under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, read.
The high-level huddle was attended by defence, finance and interior ministers along with the chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.

The meeting took a comprehensive review of the regional and international security environment, and took note of the growing weapons’ development in the region.
Those present in the meeting reiterated the policy of full spectrum deterrence, maintaining that the nuclear capability is the factor of stability in South Asia.
“Acknowledging the services and professionalism displayed by the scientists and engineers, NCA congratulated them for the recent successful tests of various ballistic and cruise missile systems,” the statement stated.

The authority was also briefed on the impending Nuclear Security Summit, scheduled to be held in Washington DC, during which those present ratified the Convention on Physical Protection of Nuclear Material.
“It was re-affirmed that, as a responsible nuclear state, Pakistan would continue to contribute meaningfully towards the global efforts to improve nuclear security and nuclear non-proliferation measures,” the statement added.
