Ronaldo sets another record, this time off the field

Portuguese star has more than 200 million followers on social media

Real Madrid star striker Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first athlete reach 200 million followers on social media.

The Portuguese super star has 109.7 million followers on Facebook, 49.6 million followers on Instagram and 40.7 million followers on Twitter.

Those statistics are revealed by social media tracking database Hookit, which also states that the 31-year-old nearly has one billion interactions on social media last year.

More detailed statistics revealed that the three times World Player of the Year has more followers than five NBA stars (Lebron James, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry – 187 million followers) together.

Ronaldo, who recently lost the Ballon d’Or to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, easily outdoes the Argentina international on social media, who has 120.8 million followers.



Hookit also revealed that the Real Madrid all-time leading goal-scorer averages 135,000 new followers every day.
