IED blast injures five FC personnel in South Waziristan
Blast occurs hours before Gen Raheel arrived in Shawal area of North Waziristan to review progress of Zarb-e-Azb
PESHAWAR:
At least five Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were injured in a remote-controlled blast in South Waziristan on Wednesday.
According to security sources, an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting an FC convoy exploded in Tani Village, leaving five personnel wounded.

Soon after the blast security forces initiated a search operation in the area.
The attack took place hours before Army Chief General Raheel Sharif arrived in Shawal area of North Waziristan to review the progress of operation Zarb-e-Azb.
During the visit, General Raheel was briefed by the operation commander regarding operational gains made so far and the impending operations, the military’s spokesperson Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa confirmed.

General Raheel also directed troops participating in the operation to commence forthwith the last phase of the operation in North Waziristan, which aims at clearing the remnants of terrorists from their hideouts in deeply forested ravines.
