The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Tuesday admitted a petition against the acquittal of Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, Aftab Ahmed Sherpao and Shoaib Nosherwani in the 2006 Nawab Akbar Bugti killing case and summoned all the accused.

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) had acquitted former military ruler Musharraf, his interior minister Sherpao and ex-home minister of Balochistan Nosherwani on January 18, 2016. Not happy with the ruling, Nawabzada Jamil Bugti, a son of Akbar Bugti, challenged it in the BHC.

Jamil Bugti’s attorney told a BHC bench, headed by Justice Shakeel Ahmed Baloch, that the ATC had earlier dismissed the acquittal pleas of the accused. Surprisingly however, the same ATC later exonerated them on technical ground which is violation of the law and the Constitution.

The bench admitted the petition for hearing and summoned all the three accused.
