The Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) on Monday issued notices to several government departments, including police and the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), over unpaid electricity dues.



According to the MEPCO, the Police Department owes it Rs295,519, the Cholistan Development Authority Rs145,500, the Public Health Engineering Department Rs141,219, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Livestock Rs165,274, the Ministry of Narcotics Rs5,515, the Pakistan Post 2,234, the Government Printing Press Rs6,200, the Local Government and Rural Development Department Rs18,079, the Highways Department Rs28,376, the Punjab Food Department Rs30,082, the Forest and Wildlife Department 26,313, the Fisheries Department Rs42,588, the Irrigation Department Rs84,751, the Bahawalpur district government Rs75,787, the Punjab Livestock and Dairy Department Rs17,344, the Veterinary Department Rs17,023, the Punjab Health Department Rs40,998, the Social Welfare Department Rs97,616, the Schools Education Department Rs110,818, the Special Education Department Rs8,496, the District Headquarters Hospital Rs229,916, the Revenue Department Rs162,917, the Communications and Works Department Rs75,329, the Bahawalpur TMA Rs720,350, the Yazman TMA Rs68,7213, the Income Tax Department Rs33,602, the National Highway Authority Rs83,401, the Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited Rs197,641, the central jail Rs54,4190, the Hasilpur TMA Rs96,421, the Khairpur Tamewali TMA Rs394,652 and the Ahmadpur East TMA Rs80,575.

Executive Engineer Khawaja Niaz Ahmad said the departments that did not pay the dues would lose their electricity supply.
